This study is addressed to the problem of investigating compound formation in Thai. It treats various types of noun compounds . . . including a subset of noun compounds which we call 'subcompounds' in which one or more members are bound forms, and reduplication as a special case of noun and verb compounding with phonological implications; also dealt with are learned compounds of Indic origin. The descriptions are given in terms of transformational grammar.
