Occupational Origins and Variations in Patterns of Occupational Succession: The Case of Filipino University Students

Beltran (Chen), Anita Kho Go

Broadly stated, our study centers primarily on the occupational origins of Filipino university students and their career commitments. The study was designed to assess the level of occupational status they had already obtained on the basis of the last regular job held. A subsequent comparison with the father's main job enables us to analyze an early phase of occupational mobility which has been taking place between the subjects' and their fathers' generation.
Samples for the study were drawn from students currently enrolled in the state university in the home country [the Philippines] and from those in a few selected universities in the United States.
